Students participated in a variety of virtual trainings to become Peer-to-Peer Advocates for our new Wellness Centers

During the months of April and May, fifty-one different  9th-11th graders from within our district participated in a variety of virtual trainings to become Peer-to-Peer Advocates for our new Wellness Centers. Students applied to be in the program and were selected to participate  by staff at their schools. In April students learned about Qualitative Interviewing and Diversity as well as Equity and Inclusion.  May found the students learning about Peer Advocacy and Tobacco Use Prevention Education,  LGBTQ+ Indentity and Issues. The final training on May 19/20th was Trauma Resiliency. Students participated in small breakout groups, discussions, watched educational films and bonded as a group. They look forward to the fall when they can apply what they learned to help their peers and provide a valuable service of peer-to-peer education and support to their schools.
